PERSONAL RESOLVES TO UPHOLD IN CONFLICT
- I resolve to honor God thoroughly and relentlessly.
Honoring God is more important than being honored by the other person (1Cor 10:31).
- I resolve to persistently pursue humility in the midst of conflict with another person.
Being humble before God is more important than being justified before the other person (James 4:6; 1Pet 5:5).
- I resolve to adopt the posture of a servant with the mind of Christ (Phil 2:3-5). Serving God by serving the other person is more important than serving self.
- I resolve to be more suspect of my own heart posture than the other person’s. Taking the log out of my own eye is more important than taking the speck out of my brother’s eye (Mt 7:3-5).
- I resolve to not forsake gospel thinking that seeks reconciliation based on our inseparable union in Christ.
Responding redemptively is more important than being vindicated (Col 3:1-15).
- I resolve to act lovingly toward the other person regardless of my present feelings.
Right character before God is more important than my present feelings (Eph 4:30-5:2).
- I resolve to trust God to work out His greater purposes of sanctification in my life and my brother’s life.
Prayer is more important than persuasion.
- I resolve to take the posture of a peacemaker rather than an opponent. Reconciliation is more important than recognition.
